Sourcing Transparency

Reputable vendors are transparent about where their kratom comes from. Indonesia produces approximately 90% or more of the world's commercial kratom supply, with Borneo (Kalimantan) being the largest growing region. Vendors should be able to tell you the general origin of their product and their relationship with their supply chain.

Testing Documentation

As covered in our COA guide, look for lot-specific Certificates of Analysis from ISO 17025-accredited independent labs covering alkaloid quantification, heavy metals, microbial screening, and pathogen testing. The COA batch number must match your product packaging.

Pricing: Understanding Value

When comparing prices, calculate the per-gram cost rather than comparing package prices, since package sizes vary. A kilogram of quality powder from a reputable vendor generally falls in the range of roughly $50–$100+, depending on strain and vendor. Capsules typically carry a 30–60% premium over powder for the same strain. Extracts are priced per serving or per unit rather than per gram of raw material.

Packaging & Labeling

Professional packaging and labeling reflect a vendor's commitment to compliance and quality. Look for: product name and strain, net weight, lot or batch number, alkaloid content (if applicable), recommended storage conditions, age restriction notices, and vendor contact information. Products sold in unmarked or poorly labeled bags are harder to verify and trace.

Ordering Considerations

Start small: When trying a new vendor for the first time, order a smaller quantity to evaluate quality, shipping speed, and customer service before committing to larger orders.

Strain variety: If you want to explore multiple strains, many vendors offer variety packs or sample sets that allow you to try several options at a lower commitment.

Shipping and handling: Check the vendor's shipping policies, including delivery timeframes, shipping costs, and packaging (kratom should be sealed and protected from moisture and light).

Returns and refunds: Understand the vendor's return and refund policy before ordering. Reputable vendors typically have clear policies posted on their website.
